V is for Vision

Quote
Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.
Melody Beattie

Bible Verse
Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, But happy is he who keeps the law.  Proverbs 29:18 (NASB)

Journaling
Do you have a vision for your life?
What would you like your life to look like in 5 years time?

Technique Challenge
Masking tape resist.  On the video it jumps from drying the paint to having removed the masking tape. You do need to peel it off gently when the first layer of paint is dry.

U is for Unique

Quote
Every man and woman is born into the world to do something unique and something distinctive and if he or she does not do it, it will never be done.    Benjamin E. Mays

Bible Verse
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.   I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.   Psalm 139: 13-14

Inspiration
You are Unique

Journaling
In what way are you unique?  What things do you do that only you can do?
Why do you think some people find it hard to believe that they are unique and special?

Technique Challenge
Use a screwed up plastic bag to make texture with acrylic paint.   I suggest you use a lot less paint than in the video.

Try Guest Post

I am thrilled to introduce my next guest.  I have been admiring the work of Sherry Mendoza for a while and was so pleased when she agreed to take part.

Sherry, please tell us about your page.

I was super excited to catch up with my friend Louise Nelson at CHA recently!  She gave me a sample feather stamp and stencil that she has designed herself which I really wanted to incorporate on this project.

I have used the tip of the Feather stencil to create the border using Wendy Vecchi's new Embossing Paste in metallic gold (which is to die for!)

My background is a mixture of gesso, dylusion sprays and distress stains. The saying on the page is something that is really meaningful to me at this moment in my life and career.

Thank you to Bernice for inviting me to be a part of her awesome blog inspiration.

T is for Try

Quote
Don't think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It's self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can't try to do things. You simply must do things.   Ray Bradbury

Bible Verse

And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.  Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.   Be joyful always.   1 Thessalonians 5:14-16

S is for Self Image

Quote
Relentless, repetitive self talk is what changes our self-image.  Denis Waitley

Bible Verse
Each of you is now a new person. You are becoming more and more like your Creator, and you will understand him better.   Col. 3:10 (CEV)

Inspiration
Creature Comforts

Journaling
How do you see yourself?   Are you happy in your own skin?
Do you listen to the negative thoughts in your head?
If the quote is true, that repetitive self talk changes our self-image, what things should you be saying to yourself to limit negative thinking?

Technique Challenge
Use an image of a person from a magazine as a silhouette.
Stick the image on black paper and cut it out.  Turn it over and stick the magazine side down.   Or stick the page on card and cut out the person to make a stencil.

If you don’t have any magazines you can download this pdf.
